Super Bowl 49 is a matchup of two teams that play the exact brand of football that they want to. The defending champion Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots routinely impose their will on their opponents and rarely veer from their plans. It will be interesting to see what gives on Sunday.
The unfortunate Deflate-Gate scandal and the Seahawks’ historic defense have combined to take some of the focus off of these two team’s offenses. However, I believe that this game is going to come down to which offense can better exploit the other team’s defense (shocker, I know). Will the Patriots be able to utilize Rob Gronkowski up the middle on this tough Seattle defense? Will the Seahawks be able to get Marshawn Lynch going early and take control of the game?
True, it takes both a great offensive and defensive day to win the Super Bowl, but I think one or two offensive players are going to be the story in this game. Whichever team can get their weapons in a better groove early will be in place to take over the game as the Super Bowl rolls on.
It’s not often that some of the biggest names in the Super Bowl belong to defensive backs and tight ends, but that’s what he have this Sunday. Of course the quarterbacks are pretty well known, too. Tom Brady is a living-legend and Russell Wilson is attempting to become the next quarterback to win back-to-back Super Bowl since Brady did so in 2003-04.
