Which Four Championships Were More Impressive?

Joe Montana and Tom Brady have now both won four Super Bowl Championships in their illustrious careers. Montana won four Super Bowls in a nine-year span and Brady was his four Super Bowls in a 14-year span. Both are impressive and people will argue for each when it comes to which span of Super Bowl victories is more impressive.

It all comes down to which people think is more impressive, density of greatness or longevity of greatness? I have a feeling this argument between Pats and Niners fans isn’t going to end anytime soon.

Argument for Montana: He went undefeated in the Super Bowl whereas Brady lost two times on the world’s biggest stage. Not to mention, Montana packed more success (championships) into a shorter amount of time. Montana’s dynasty was more dense and clearly defined.

Argument for Brady: He won two more AFC Championships than Montana, which means he got his team to the big game more. Plus, Brady’s span of Super Bowl winning seasons stretched out (at least) five years longer than Montana’s. It can be argued Brady played great for a longer amount of time.

Advantage?

Draw. Although the kicker here is that Brady still has a few years left to play in the NFL. If he wins another Super Bowl this argument will forever be dead. For now, these two are neck and neck when it comes to Super Bowl championships. Brady’s two more Conference Championships are impressive, but so is Montana’s blemish-free record in the Super Bowl (4-0). It’s quite simply a draw right now.
