We all know the Carolina Panthers need help on the offensive line. Free-agency won’t figure to be loaded with much talent at the position, so Carolina’s best shot is through the draft.

Ereck Flowers is a big, strong offensive lineman out of the University of Miami. He’s mostly being praised for his mauling run-blocking abilities but shows signs of being a capable pass-blocker as well.

While his footwork can be sloppy at times, he’s very athletic for a lineman of his size and has quick feet. That allows him to recover even when he’s beat.

He would fit in perfectly on a team like the Panthers that runs the ball more than most. He could come in right from the start at left tackle and would be in a position to excel in the run-blocking game, building his confidence over time.

As of now, Flowers rates as about the fifth or sixth best lineman in this year’s crop. If he’s available when the Panthers are on the clock, they would be wise to select him, as there’s somewhat of a drop-off for this position after.

Assuming he’s available and no one takes an unexpected slide, Flowers would be the best selection for Carolina – based on both talent and need.
