#3  Tight End  –  This is a position on the Packers roster that many disagree on, and understandably so.  Richard Rodgers and Andrew Quarless split time at the position in 2014 with limited results, and the younger Rodgers looks to be the future of the position out of the internal options.

The tight end decision comes down to what the Packers want from the position in their scheme.  If Mike McCarthy wants a tight end who moves the chains and makes catches over the middle, Richard Rodgers may be their man and this could be a moot point.  There is a very real possibility, however, that the team wants more of an athletic threat at the position.

I see Richard Rodgers as the perfect 1B to a more athletic 1A tight end.  This isn’t a knock on Rodgers, as his ability to box out defenders and haul in quick passes with his massive hands is extremely valuable.  The addition of an athletic tight end could also lessen the strain on the WR corps in the situation that Randall Cobb walks in free agency.

Before his unfortunate injury, Jermichael Finley was one of the most valuable pieces on Green Bay’s offense.  Not only did he put up big numbers himself, but his ability to stretch the seam drew safeties high and opened up the heart of the field for wide receivers to work.

Likely round: 1st-3rd
