26.
Four years ago, the Baltimore Ravens sat at 26 and watched a talented-but-troubled cornerback fall to them in the form of Jimmy Smith. It’s time for history to repeat itself with Washington’s Marcus Peters joining the Ravens after off-field issues cause one of the draft’s best corners to fall.

Peters’ laundry list of troubles is discouraging, and the immediate reaction to this pick could be that the Ravens shouldn’t be adding a red flag after the Ray Rice situation that played out over 2014. In my opinion, that unfortunate event forced the Ravens organization to change for the better, and few clubs in this league would have the experience in dealing with red flags that the Ravens do. To his credit, Peters has done and said all the right things over the past month.

Jimmy Smith is set to become an unrestricted free agent following the upcoming season, and Ladarius Webb could be released to save the team $6 million in cap space next year. Peters would step in as the nickel corner from day one and give the Ravens a very strong cornerback room.

Peters needs his fair share of polish, but has the ceiling of a No. 1 cornerback that his defensive coordinator can put up against opponent’s top receivers week in, week out. He’s very strong in the press and plays even longer than his frame would suggest. If the Ravens feel confident that they can handle his emotional side, which is a big if, they’ll be thrilled with the physical.
. CB. Washington. Marcus Peters. 26. player
