player. 123.
The Dallas Cowboys’ spotlight will remain focused on Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray in the coming weeks, but once April 30th rolls around, they’ll need to address their defensive front. The linebacker position could be losing the super-athletic Bruce Carter to free agency and Rolando McClain to a combination of that and suspension, making Kentucky’s Bud Dupree an ideal fit for their needs.

At 6’4″ and nearly 270 pounds, Dupree established himself as a physical freak at the Combine with a 40-yard dash time of 4.56 seconds to go along with a 42.0 inch vertical jump. There are some questions over whether he fits best as a linebacker or defensive end, but the Cowboys could see that as an advantage and move him between the two.

Dupree is a very willing tackler against the run and shows the potential to collapse rushing lanes. He has a tremendous initial burst of power and should still be able to thump against NFL-level talent on the offensive line. His pass-rush moves could use some work, but the athleticism is there with a huge ceiling. Dupree will be able to set the edge well if he starts as an end, and I see this being a physical specimen that Jerry Jones falls in love with. His future success will be largely a product of his scheme and coordinator, but the Cowboys will have a keeper if they work him right.
. OLB. Kentucky. Bud Dupree. 27
