Position: Cornerback
Height & Weight: 5’11” & 193 pounds
2014 Season Statistics: 43 total tackles, 28 solo, 1.0 for loss, 4 passes defended, 1 fumble forced
Ronald Darby was one of the anchors of a stout and storied Florida State Seminoles defense. In a season in which Jameis Winston couldn’t stop committing first-half turnovers, Darby and company kept FSU in games.
At the scouting combine, Darby put on a show.
It’s hard to argue.
Darby ran a 4.38 40-yard dash and pulled out a stunning 41.5-inch standing vertical leap. Both of those numbers made his sub-6’0″ height more forgivable and turned heads in front offices.
The only question pertaining to Darby is how he’ll perform against the run.
Darby tends to struggle in run defense, but he’s an outstanding cover corner. For a team that needs to improve against the pass, he’ll be tough to overlook in the late first and early second rounds.
Reaching for him would help any team in need of aid.
