Most folks tab Moore as the premiere free agent safety set to hit the open market if the Patriots fail to lock up Devin McCourty.

Hooey, I say.

I say he’s the premiere free agent safety set to hit the open market irrespective of what the Patriots do with Devin McCourty.

Moore is perhaps best known for the one that got away. Or more accurately… the one that got just over his outstretched hand. And got into the waiting arms of Jacoby Jones. And got the Baltimore Ravens to the AFC Title Game.

But Moore has bounced back: He discusses some of that bounce-back in this Patrick Saunders piece from The Denver Post

Moore is just 25 years old and has already started 47 games at safety in the NFL. He’s shows in that time that he’s capable of covering NFL wideouts one-on-one and tackling NFL running backs with no trepidation. His tape pops with flashes of the kind of versatility that Chip Kelly talks about wanting in his pair of safeties.

The idea of the Eagles making a big play for Moore in addition to going after a big-ticket free agent corner like Byron Maxwell seems far-fetched: Would the fiscally conservative Eagles spend so luxuriously on two back-end defenders?

If they’ve been watching their own game-tape from last year… they just might.
