Round 3: Damarious Randall – S – Arizona State
The Dolphins upgraded their safety position last offseason with the free agent signing of Louis Delmas, as he provided the defense with another physical, hard-hitting safety.
At one point, Delmas led the team in tackles, before falling to a serious knee injury late in the season against the Baltimore Ravens. Delmas, who was originally brought in on a one-year deal, might not be ready for the start of the season. Even if he is, it will probably not be in a Dolphins uniform.
Instead, Miami will choose to go younger at the position, and draft Damarious Randall out of Arizona State in the third round.
With the recent addition of Suh, the culture of Miami’s defense will surely change. Randall is a guy who plays with a high motor and provides a high level of intensity each play.
At Arizona State, Randall finished his senior season with a total of 106 tackles and three interceptions.
Along with his great instinct in regards to making the tackle, Randall also knows what to do with the football once it is in his hands. Out of his three interceptions in 2014, one of them was returned for a touchdown, while another was brought back 30 yards.
Adding a player like Randall could provide the Dolphins secondary with another youthful player with a very high ceiling.
