Round 4: Jacoby Glenn – CB – Central Florida
Matching their third round pick, the Dolphins will continue to develop and add youth to their secondary, by selecting a cornerback in the fourth round.
Let’s face it: Drafting Jamar Taylor and Will Davis two year’s ago has not been a success for the Dolphins, as both players have their own issues with staying healthy. During his two years at Central Florida, Jacoby Glenn has been fairly healthy, missing only their 2013 game against Temple due to injury.
Outside of the inept ability of Taylor and Davis to stay healthy, Miami also released starting cornerback Cortland Finnegan. In one season with the Dolphins, Finnegan – like Taylor and Davis – could not stay healthy, missing four games on the year.
Adding Glenn’s durability is something Miami needs in the secondary.
In addition to his ability to read the quarterback and hawk-down the football (finished with nine interceptions in two seasons), Glenn does not shy away and is very active in run support, something Miami struggled with last season.
After playing just two seasons under head coach George O’Leary, Glenn is still somewhat raw and has plenty of room for improvement. He has potential to be a starting cornerback in the NFL, but Miami must be willing to take a shot on the sophomore.
