Round 5: Nick Boyle – TE – Delaware
This is a tough pick, and honestly, it might be a little bit out of what Miami is looking to do. Charles Clay was given the transition tag from the team but can still field offers from other teams (they can match any offer sheet). If they lose Clay, Miami would likely draft another tight end.
That’s right, another. Over the last few seasons, Miami has taken a tight end more than they would’ve liked, selecting one in five of their last six drafts.
If Clay does end up playing in another uniform next season, one tight end Miami should consider drafting is Nick Boyle, the senior from the University of Delaware.
Boyle doesn’t have the flashy stats, but has provided the Blue Hens with some productivity. In his final two seasons, Boyle caught a combined 79 catches for 778 yards and 11 touchdowns.
One thing Boyle possesses is great size, making him a possible red-zone target, something Miami is currently lacking. Along with his size, Boyle is also an above average blocker and is quite an elusive runner after the catch.
Again, this pick is only if Clay chooses to sign with another team. If he does, Boyle would be a decent attempt at filling a hole left by their star tight end.
