22. James Lofton, Wide Receiver, 1978-1986
The Green Bay Packers have a great history of success at the wide receiver position. James Lofton is certainly one of the all-time greats at the position in Green Bay history. He was a star for the Packers during one of the darkest times in franchise history in terms of team success. During those years he was selected to the Pro Bowl seven times and named First-Team All-Pro once. He is one of two wide receivers in franchise history to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Lofton was a star in his first season and was named to the Pro Bowl as a rookie. Twice in his career with the Packers he led the NFL in yards per reception and five times he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark. His 9,656 receiving yards are second most in franchise history and his 530 receptions are third all-time. He scored 50 total touchdowns with the Packers, but scored 76 total touchdowns in his career.
He was a great deep threat with elite speed and stood at 6’3″, making he was the total package at wide receiver. Lofton is one of four wide receivers to make this top-30 all-time list. His success is particularly impressive considering he didn’t have one of the Packers’ top quarterbacks throwing his way for any portion of his career.
