30. Mike Michalske, Guard, 1929-1937

Offensive lineman Mike Michalske is one of the few players from the Packers’ earliest glory years to make in onto this all-time list. He spent eight years in Green Bay and he made the most of his stay. Michalske was one of the first truly dominant guards in Packers, and NFL, history. He wasn’t big like offensive linemen are in today’s game, as he weighed just 210 pounds, but professional football was different back then. Linemen needed to be more agile in the ancient days of the NFL.

In eight seasons in Green Bay he was named First-Team All-Pro three times. He accomplished this in three consecutive seasons from 1929-1931, although he was named First-Team All-Pro five times in his career in total. He is also in the Pro Football Hall of Fame; there isn’t much more a lineman can individually accomplish in the NFL.

With the Packers Michalske won three consecutive World Championships (1929-31), which happened to be the first three years that he was with the team. He did score two touchdowns for Green Bay and recorded a safety in his career with the Packers, too. Overall, he’s one of the many archaic names in Packers lore that truly deserves to be remembered, despite the fact that he is often overlooked.
