26. Jim Ringo, Center, 1953-1963

The center position is perhaps the most underrated position in football; they are the only player that is guaranteed to touch the ball on every single play. Centers have to be intelligent while they call out blocking assignments and tough enough to handle the brunt of a defensive attack. Jim Ringo was that player for the Packers when the Lombardi Era took off in Green Bay. His contributions to Packers’ history is firmly in place.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee played for the Packers for 11 years and he saw the team rise from laughing stock to legends in his time at center. Players don’t get more durable than Ringo; he started every game for the final 10 years he wore green and yellow. In his final seven years in Green Bay he was named to the Pro Bowl (10 total times in his career) and six times he was named First-Team All-Pro for the Packers.

Ringo is best known for being the starting center of two World Championship teams (1961-62). The 1962 Packers are often referred to as the greatest team in Packers history — he was the All-Pro center of that team. Ringo also recovered an impressive seven fumbles in his career. The Packers may never have a center so dominant again.
