Number 5: Matt Moore – Quarterback
Matt Moore was originally brought into the Miami Dolphins organization in 2011, when he was signed to be the primary backup to quarterback Chad Henne. Eventually, Moore took over the starting job, starting 13 games for the Dolphins that year.
Although the Dolphins did not make the postseason, Moore was fairly successful, throwing 16 touchdowns to nine interceptions.
His tenure as the starter didn’t last long, though, as the team drafted Ryan Tannehill in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, putting Moore back to his assumed role at the backup position.
Heading into this year’s free agency, Moore was expected to be a hot commodity among team’s struggling to find answers at the quarterback position. However, Moore remains unsigned, decreasing his market value.
At this point, it should be easy for Miami to resign him. It is important to have a backup quarterback in the NFL, especially one that knows the system. Moore is also a cheap veteran option for a team that is youthful on the offensive side of the ball.
Moore played a minimal role with Miami in 2014, finishing the season with just two completions on four attempts.
