With the change to a 3-4 defense coming next season, having a monster defensive tackle is the key to success. Danny Shelton from the University of Washington certainly fits that bill, as he is listed a 6’2” 338 pounds.

In 2014, Shelton had a great senior season at Washington totaling nine sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss, and 93 tackles. In the NFL, Shelton will probably not bring the high sack total he did in his senior year of college, but he has shown he can be more than just a big body in the middle. Considering his large frame, Shelton was able to stay on the field for a high percentage of snaps, which is a good sign for teams that are interested in being an anchor up front.

Shelton has the potential to be an All-Pro nose tackle, as he is considered to be similar to Vince Wilfork, which would certainly be worth the Bears using the seventh pick on him. The Bears’ defense can upgrade at nearly every level, and Shelton could be the anchor of a defense for the next decade.
