The Oakland Raiders announced on March 16th that they were parting ways with quarterback Matt Schaub after just one season. Schaub was brought in before the 2014 season as a potential starter/mentor to whichever quarterback the Raiders would select in the NFL Draft. The 2013 season was the worst of Schaub’s career as he found himself benched in favor of TJ “I Wasn’t Invited To The Combine” Yates and Case “Am I Tall Enough For This Ride” Keenum down the stretch.
He threw an astonishing four pick-sixes in four consecutive games and helped the Texans crash to a 2-14 record, losing a remarkable 14 games in a row. Unfortunately for Matt Schaub, he was never able to redeem himself with the Raiders and was of course let go by the team.
With the news that he was released, perhaps it is time to reflect on the “Season of Schaub” in Oakland and take a look at his best, and worst, moments in Silver and Black.
