Free agency isn’t officially over yet. And, hey, with Chip Kelly running the show, who knows what’s next for the Philadelphia Eagles?
That notwithstanding, the calendar says late-March and that’s basically early-April and April means one thing in NFL circles: Draft-a-palooza (my personal favorite time of the football year!)
More from Philadelphia Eagles
- Philadelphia Eagles just won the offseason NFL uniform competition
- 2023 NFL Predictions: Every Divisional Winner for the 2023 Season
- Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts keeps things in perspective
- 2023 NFL Season: Way too early picks for division winners
- Biggest Strength and Weakness for each NFC East team in 2023
With that in mind I’m going to propose that the following draft scenario would be tremendous for the Eagles.
I want to be clear:
This is not a prediction.
What is it?
This is a mapping out of a draft that I think is both reasonable given where I expect players to be taken and one that would, in my opinion, address a tremendous amount of need for the Eagles heading into camp.
Oh. And it’s worth noting that I am not going to include trades here. Because predicting a trade is silly and, once done, in renders everything else moot.
My theory is that this practice began back in 1999 when a Saints writer was lazy and didn’t want to write a whole seven round mock draft. So he just wrote, “Heck… we’re gonna trade all the picks we’ve got for Ricky Williams. And we’re done.”
Ditka read the article over coffee the next morning… and the rest was history.
But I digress.
