59. Cornerback will be a position that nearly ever team has ranked differently. With Trae Waynes off the board just three picks prior, the Dolphins decide to take a risk on a troubled corner with a great upside in Marcus Peters.
Peters has the prototypical body that you’d look for at cornerback and is extremely talented, so where’s the “but”? Well, Peter was dismissed from the team this past season following a confrontation with an assistant coach in November, and there are multiple off-field concerns. Reviews on him since have seemed to soften, but the Dolphins would need to really look into this young man before pulling the trigger.

If they’re confident that he has matured, then Peters has the potential of a number one, shutdown corner on the outside. His coverage abilities are very strong and he’s not lacking in ball skills or confidence either. Peters isn’t afraid to go after the biggest and best receiver on the field, and for the corner-needy Dolphins, this pick could be fantastic if it pans out. While he isn’t a finished product just yet, Peters has as good a chance as any to be the top corner out of this class.
. CB. Washington. Marcus Peters. 14. player
