New Orleans Saints

Draft Position: No. 31

Current Quarterback: Drew Brees, 36 years old

Other Draft Needs: DE, OLB, CB

Chances are, you don’t believe that Marcus Mariota could fall to No. 31. If that’s the case, just ask Teddy Bridgewater about how realistic it is for a potential No. 1 overall draft pick to fall that far.

If that does come to fuirition, the New Orleans Saints would have to at least consider taking Mariota with their second of two first-round draft picks.

Drew Brees is still a star-caliber quarterback, but he’s also 36 years old. Considering Mariota is widely regarded as a quarterback who will need to spend a year or two at No. 2 on the depth chart, this scenario makes sense.

With Brees’ contract set to expire after the 2016 season, Mariota could take over as the future of the organization with a pair of seasons behind a legend under his belt.

This is unlikely to go over well with Saints fans, but by the time this ever came to fruition, Brees would be going on 38 years old. Even in in this day of sports medicine advances and extended careers, there are only so many players who shine at that age.

If Mariota is available at No. 31, the Saints will at least consider him as an option.
