20. Jack Lambert, MLB

  • Pittsburgh Steelers (1974-84)
  • 1976 Defensive POY / 1974 Defensive ROY / 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979 Super Bowl Champion / 6-Time 1st Team All-Pro

He turned out to be that last missing ingredient the Pittsburgh Steelers needed to get over the hump.

Once Jack Lambert came to town, the “Steel Curtain” became whole and the Steelers won four championships in six seasons.

It’s a tough chore to decide which member of the “Steel Curtain” should be placed higher on the list than the next. Lambert comes in at the not too shabby spot of No. 20.

In 1976 he won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award with an obscene eight fumble recoveries and many, many tackles.

There was nothing finesse about Lambert. He either overpowered blockers to get to the tackler or they wilted under the pressure knowing Lambert was coming.
