45. Charles Gaines is going to be one of the more intriguing defensive backs that can be had in the middle rounds, and round five seems to be a good place for him to go. The Denver Broncos don’t necessarily have to draft a cornerback, but Gaines would be a solid depth pickup for them.
There are some concerns surrounding Gaines’ game, as there are with every single NFL Draft prospect. He is a bit undersized at 5’10” and 180 pounds, but he is still more than capable of holding his own and making plays. Gaines may not end up making an NFL roster in his rookie year, but he has the talent to work his way onto a team.

Gaines recorded 36 tackles, 1.0 sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble and 10 defensed passes last season as a junior at Louisville.

He does have an intriguing game due to the fact that he was originally a wide receiver when he first committed to Louisville. That experience has given him a unique ability to know what is coming on different routes, and gives him an advantage. Gaines would be a nice fit as a depth piece for the Broncos, and it would be a solid pickup for them at this point in the draft.
. CB. Louisville Cardinals. Charles Gaines. 5. player
