Second Round: Hroniss Grasu, Oregon

If Erving is not the selection for Kansas City in the first round, Oregon center Hroniss Grasu appears to be a ready-made fit. Grasu started 52 games at the center position in his college career, and could step right in as the day one starter for the Chiefs at the position as well.

At 6-foot-3, 297 pounds, Grasu may not have the ideal size that teams are looking for at the position, but what he lacks in bulk, he makes up for in toughness and strength. With great technique, Grasu showed the ability to handle big defensive lineman in college, and it should not be a problem at the next level.

The Chiefs’ zone blocking system is similar to what Grasu played in at Oregon, and it is a system tailor-made to his abilities. He shows great agility, quickness and athleticism for an offensive lineman, and similar to Erving, has a natural ability to reach the second level consistently.

While Grasu may not fit the mold of what some NFL teams like to do, he feels like a great fit for the Chiefs’ offense. Landing a prospect who is ready to go at a major position of need would be a major win for the Chiefs in the second round of the draft.

Other possible second round offensive line targets: T D.J. Humphries, G Laken Tomlinson, T Ty Sambrailo and G Tre’ Jackson.
