Rod Streater – Temple University

Rod Streater spent much of last season on the bench due to injury but he has proven in the past that he can be a very capable receiver. Coming to the NFL out of Temple University in Philadelphia, he is one of the many undrafted gems uncovered by GM Reggie McKenzie. He showed promise his rookie year while catching 40 passes for 584 yards from Carson Palmer but showed great improvement the following season.

Streater lead all Raiders receivers with 888 yards while working with two below average QBs in Terrelle Pryor and Matt McGloin. McGloin is the better passer of the two and Streater had games with 84, 93, and 130 yards while playing with the “Red Rifle”. He was poised to play alongside James Jones and work with a true QB in Derek Carr last season but his season ended after just 3 games. It may be a small sample size but Rod Streater has proven that he can play in this league.

He is not a true number one receiver at this point but he is an upgrade over the myriad of poor receiving options Derek Carr had to work with last season. He has good size at 6’3″ and has excellent hands and perhaps if he is given the chance to work with Carr he may develop in to the number one receiver the Raiders so desperately need. If he does, it won’t tbe the first time an undrafted receiver named Rod tore up the NFL.
