2. Davante Adams, WR, Green Bay Packers
In many ways wide receiver Davante Adams broke out as a rookie for the Green Bay Packers. He posted 38 receptions, three touchdowns, and 446 receiving yards in 2014, but 2015 will be a much bigger year for the second-year pro. The Packers resigned receiver Randall Cobb, one of the most talented players in the division, and Jordy Nelson is still a threat to lead the league in receiving touchdowns next year. Cleary Aaron Rodgers has no shortage of talented receivers to throw to, but the attention that Cobb and Nelson bring with them will pay dividends for Adams.
Not only will Adams be one year older (22) and more comfortable with Green Bay, but he’ll often be the third receiver accounted for by opposing defenses. Rodgers has proven that he throws to the open receiver, not the best receiver. I expect around 800 yards receiving for Adams in 2015, although he could surpass that.
Adams showed the Packers that he has great run after the catch ability and it appears as though he’s already earned Rodgers’ trust. He caught eight passes including one touchdown in the playoffs last year. I don’t think it’s possible that Adams would be able to post a Pro Bowl caliber year simply because there are so many players on the Packers’ offense that demand the ball, but he will still be known by everyone around the NFC North by the year’s end.
