Week 1 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Head Coach Gary Kubiak faces his former team as the Broncos kick off the 2015 season with a visit from the Baltimore Ravens. This is probably the most underwhelming of the three reunion match ups because of the limited history between Kubiak and the Ravens. He spent just one season there as an offensive coordinator and did not get the chance to build up much of an emotional bond with the city or the fans.

The more intriguing storyline is that the Ravens eliminated the Broncos from the playoffs three seasons ago in one of the most dramatic finishes in playoff history. Jacoby Jones’s famous 70+ yard reception over Raheem Moore to send the game to overtime was one of the highlights of the Ravens’ playoff run. Peyton Manning’s subsequent interception in overtime is just another playoff disappointment in Manning’s storied career.

There are also some connections through tight end Owen Daniels and safety Darian Stewart but both players only spent one season each in Baltimore. That hardly sets us up for an emotional return to town for Daniels and Stewart.
