Week 9 @ Indianapolis Colts
The second reunion is in week 9 when the Denver Broncos travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts. There are questions over whether this still counts as a reunion since Peyton Manning has spent the past three seasons in Denver and has played the Colts three times in the last two years. The game with the emotional tribute and Peyton Manning’s return to Indianapolis already happened two years ago so there probably will not be many tears shed this time around.
This matchup takes on some added significance because a rivalry has been brewing between the Colts and Broncos. The Broncos will want to prove that last season’s playoff loss to the Colts was because Manning was not at full strength and not because Indianapolis is a better team. Andrew Luck has already made Colts fans forget about the greatness of Peyton Manning and you would be hard-pressed to find a fan who regrets that decision to let Manning go.
Regardless of how long it has been since he left, Peyton Manning spent over a decade in Indianapolis and in the process became one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. He brought a Super Bowl to a desperate fan base and his success allowed for the construction of the brand-new stadium in Lucas Oil field. Anytime he in returns to the house that he built there will be extra emotion and drama but this game will be more about potential playoff seeding that emotional returns.
