Week 2 – Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens come to town to show the Raiders what type of team they should look to be. Jack Del Rio’s philosophy of a punishing running game and a dominant defense is something that the Ravens have done successfully for over a decade resulting in two Super Bowls since 2000.
They are consistent Super Bowl contenders and John Harbaugh is regarded as one of the best coaches in the league. This is an early measuring stick game for the Raiders to see if they can hang with the class of the AFC. Still, there is hope against a team that lost two of their most potent weapons in Jacoby Jones and Torrey Smith. Joe Flacco also lost one of his trusted targets in Owen Daniels who came up huge in Dennis Pitta’s absence last year.
They resigned Justin Forsett who was excellent for them last season but also lost some key pieces on defense. NT Haloti Ngata was traded to the Detroit Lions for draft picks and DE Pernell McPhee signed with the Chicago Bears. Ngata is considered one of the best interior linemen in football and McPhee racked up 7.5 sacks last season. GM Ozzie Newsome always reloads his teams well after big losses but this is an excellent opportunity for the Raiders to get their first win of the season at home.
Prediction: Win
Record: 1-1
