Week 4  – @ Chicago Bears

After making the trip to Cleveland the Raiders will stay in the Midwest and travel to Chicago to face the Bears. The Bears had the 30th ranked defense in the NFL last season but with the appointment of John Fox as head coach there should be some improvement from there. In fact it will be hard for the Bears not to improve on their defense considering how terrible they were.

They lost two key pieces in Charles Tillman and Lance Briggs on defense but Marc Trestman was so outmatched as a coach that bringing in Fox alone will be an immediate upgrade for them. The additions of Ray McDonald, Pernell McPhee, Antrell Rolle, and Sam Acho will help the Bears get back to being one of the better defenses in the league and will make life very difficult for Derek Carr.

On offense they lost big play receiver Brandon Marshall but are not lacking in talent on the offensive side of the ball. Any team that features Alshon Jeffery, Matt Forte, Martellus Bennett, and a QB that likes to sling it will be just fine on offense.

The great unknown here, as it has been for years in Chicago, is the play of Jay Cutler. He could throw for 200 yards, a touchdown, and four interceptions or he could throw for 350 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions against a young secondary. This game will hinge on which Cutler decides to show up. If the Raiders can keep pace with the Chicago offense then this could be an intriguing match up but they will be overwhelmed by this powerful offense.

Prediction: Loss

Record: 2-2
