9. player. 31.
This was a tough pick for me as I’m a big proponent of Alvin “Bud” Dupree going to the Giants if he’s still available at the ninth pick. His versatility to line up as a defensive end or linebacker in the Giants base 4-3 has to be appealing given that they could use help at both spots. I’m also rather fond of Texas defensive tackle Malcom Brown if the Giants choose to fortify the offensive line.

Ultimately, I decided that Stanford tackle, Andrus Peat, is the right choice for the Giants. Despite playing in a pro style offense at Stanford and a father who played six seasons in the NFL, Peat is not considered a finished product. He is, however, considered to be a sound technician who should be solid against the run from day one and has the size and quick feet to develop into a franchise left tackle.

Peat would likely start 2015 at the right tackle position, (bumping Justin Pugh inside to guard,) before ultimately taking over for current left tackle, Will Beatty, who is now 30 years old and entering the third year of a five year extension signed back in 2013. If Peat realizes his potential, (names like Joe Thomas and Jonathan Ogden have been mentioned) it would give the Giants a very solid young core of offensive lineman, easing concerns about keeping Eli Manning upright in the later years of his career.
.
