21. player. 56.
I considered dropping Ray out of the first round entirely after his misdemeanor marijuana arrest. I had already dropped him to the Bengals based on questions about his fit in 3-4 and the foot injury that hampered him throughout the draft process. Ultimately though, I decided that the Bengals could see him as worth the risk.

It only takes one team to believe in a player so it’s possible Ray is still long gone by this pick, but if he falls as expected, I like the Bengals as his landing spot. Cincinnati has already re-signed defensive end Michael Johnson after his one year hiatus in Tampa, but could still stand to add another playmaking pass rusher.

Even once he’s healthy, Ray will likely be relegated to a third down role, due to struggles against the run. But fellow Missouri product, Aldon Smith, did great things on limited snaps as a rookie and with his explosive first step and knack for getting to the quarterback, Ray stands a good chance of following in Smith’s footsteps.
.
