Marcus Mariota. 2. player. 35.
When all is said and done I expect Mariota to be the second player off the board, whether or not it’s the Titans making the pick is the issue. If push comes to shove I think Mariota is too good to pass up considering the Titans don’t have a viable back up behind Zach Mettenberger who suffered a shoulder injury that ended his rookie season early, after seeing his senior season at LSU wiped out by an ACL tear that sunk his draft stock.

Mariota doesn’t exactly fit Ken Whisenhunt’s mold as he prefers big armed pocket passers like Mettenberger. I actually think this could be beneficial for Mariota, assuming Whisenhunt’s up to the challenge. Having a playbook that actually requires him to stand in the pocket and make reads, rather than having a team that will alter the playbook to suit him. He’s got the arm talent, the desire, the football IQ and the patience to make a successful transition to the NFL and make no mistake, if Winston had gone back to Florida State, Mariota would be the unquestioned top pick in the draft.

That said the Browns are in position to make a pretty nice offer and with the 12th and 19th pick the Titans could snag Mariota’s Oregon teammate, Arik Armstead to help Jurrell Casey on the defensive line and Miami (FL) offensive tackle, Ereck Flowers would be a great fit as a right tackle who can create plenty of open running lanes for Bishop Sankey.
.
