The ‘don’t count on it’ scenario: Toddy Gurley, running back, Georgia

ESPN’s Todd McShay sent Todd Gurley to the Giants in one of his recent mock drafts, but frankly, I can’t really see this happening.

First and foremost, the Giants already have what’s presumably the three-back system they want for 2015. After signing Rashad Jennings last offseason, the team brought in the ultra-versatile Shane Vereen. The triad of Jennings, Vereen and Andre Williams might not feature a perennial 1,000-yard rusher, but it’s a solid trio.

Gurley, on the other hand, is probably going to be a consistent 1,000-yard rusher, but I still don’t think the Giants would take him at number nine.

The former Georgia Bulldog is coming off of a torn ACL, and while he has reportedly looked very good, it would be hard to justify the Giants taking him with the aforementioned players under contract.

Would Gurley make an impact on the Giants? Absolutely. However, the team has too many other needs, and taking him in the top 10 wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense.
