Cornerbacks
Jalen Collins — The supremely gifted LSU corner slid out of round one, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Collins is incredibly raw, and pro-ready prospects like Marcus Peters and Kevin Johnson leapfrogged him as teams sought out day one starters. The talent is certainly there with Collins, as is the playmaker potential, so he shouldn’t last long.
Ronald Darby — The 5’11” FSU corner is among the fastest in this entire draft class. His coverage skills have the potential to be starting calibre in the NFL, but the knock on Darby continues to be his toughness in physical coverage and ability to contribute to the run game. Regardless, this is a second round talent.
Eric Rowe — Utah’s Eric Rowe enters the league at a long 6’1″ and 203 pounds. He also made the Scouting Combine look like a walk in the park, so there’s intrigue here. Some peg him as “stiff”, which I don’t buy, but his man-coverage abilities and physical gifts should land him in the second round.
Quenten Rollins — At 5’11” and 194 pounds out of Miami Ohio, the former basketball player has the quickness that you want at corner. Speedy wide receivers may outrun him in the long game, however, and his technique does need work as he familiarizes himself with football once again. Many teams view him as a safety, and you can expect him to leave the board Friday.
P.J. Williams — Now that his DUI charges have been dismissed, Williams may creep back onto some draft boards. At 6’0″ and 194 pounds out of FSU, Williams has the body positioning to hide any deficiencies in his long speed, and could also be viewed as a safety by some teams.
Keep in mind: Charles Gaines, Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Alex Carter, Steve Mager
