Running Back

Tevin Coleman  —  These backs could leave the board in any order depending on schematic fit, but Coleman built some serious hype after topping 2,000 rushing yards in 2014 at Indiana.  Coleman lives in 5th gear, so I’d like to see some more Le’Veon Bell-style patience added to his game. In an offense that calls for a decisive, one-cut running back, he could excel.

Jay Ajayi  —  Boise State’s Ajayi is a prospect that I love due to his ability to receive out of the backfield. At 6’0″, 221 pounds, a healthy Ajayi could contribute on all three downs for the proper team  He flashes the ability to bruise smaller defenders while also avoiding the monsters along the line, and if teams aren’t scared off by his knee, he could be a great add.

Duke Johnson  —  The pint-sized lightning bolt from the University of Miami topped 1,600 yards on the ground in 2014, and will offer a home run threat from day one. His quick feet and smaller frame allow him to bolt through small holes, and although there is room for improvement with his interior running game, a zone-run offense would allow him to put up some large numbers.

Ameer Abdullah  —  Also standing at 5’9″, the Nebraska running back uses a low centre of gravity to add power to his burst. I like his vision, patience and creativity while moving through the line, but his fumbles will be a major concern entering the NFL

Keep in mind:  T.J. Yeldon, David Johnson, David Cobb, Karlos Williams, Jeremy Langford
