2. Tom Brady, 2007
The second-greatest AP MVP season of the last decade belongs to Tom Brady. His 2007 season was the stuff of legend and he was, at times, literally unstoppable. This was the season that changed people’s perception of Brady from just a winner, to a truly statistically-dominant quarterback. In a way, he started a trend in the NFL of quarterbacks posting absolutely gaudy numbers, thus winning the AP MVP, for five straight years.
Brady threw for 4,806 yards and 50 touchdown passes in 2007. He was the first quarterback to ever throw for 50 touchdowns in a single season, but he wouldn’t be the last (next slide, hint, hint). The Patriots’ great also posted a rating of 117.2 and completed 68.9 percent of his passes, while throwing just eight interceptions all year. His 98 rushing yards aren’t overly impressive, but he did find the end zone on the ground twice. Brady only fumbled six times in 2007 and averaged 300.4 yards per game.
This season will forever be remembered as one of the most dominant seasons in the history of the game at the quarterback position and at any position. The greatness of his 2007 season was only surpassed by one MVP season in the last ten years, perhaps ever, and that season was put together by his arch rival. Yeah, I’m pretty sure you know the player that I’m referring to.
