It’s never good when you rank dead last on a list of 32 teams. Such was the case with the New York Jets and their aerial attack in 2014, which fizzled far more than it sizzled.

This past season, no club in the NFL gained fewer yards through the air. And despite the free-agent addition of wide receiver Eric Decker and the debut of second-round tight end Jace Amaro, New York managed a paltry 184.1 yards per game through the air and scored just 16 times via the passing game (the latter total equaled by Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Dez Bryant in ’14).

Even more disappointing was the fact that only eight of the Jets’ receiving touchdowns came from wideouts, five of those from Decker. Hence new general manager Mike Maccagnan went out and dealt for star wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who caught eight touchdown passes with the Chicago Bears this past season.
