Let’s get back to the defense for a second. This past season under Rex Ryan, only five teams in the league gave up fewer total yards while the Jets ranked fifth in the NFL when it came to stopping the run. In 2013, the club was a very-respectable 11th in the league when it came to total defense and only the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers were better when it came to stopping ground attack.

We already mentioned the fact that the Jets only picked off six passes in 2014, less than half as many as they managed the previous year (13). But add in opponent fumble recoveries and the Jets have totaled a dismal 28 takeaways in their last 32 games and forced a league-low 13 turnovers this past season.

New head coach Todd Bowles, whose teams totaled 55 takeaways the past two years, hopes to reverse New York’s misfortunes in this department.
