In recent seasons, the Jets have been underwhelming on offense to say the least. Dating back to 2012, this is a team held to less than 20 points in 29 of their 48 contests.

The last two seasons the Green and White attack has been under the guidance of young quarterback Geno Smith, who has not had a great supporting cast to work with. On the other hand, he’s also had quite the time hanging onto the football.

In their last 32 contests dating back to 2013, the Jets have committed a total of 53 turnovers, not an astoundingly high number in the grand scheme of things. However, 41 of those miscues have come via Smith courtesy of 34 interceptions and seven lost fumbles. Do the math and the remainder of the club has committed a dozen turnovers in those 32 outings.

Chalk that up to growing pains when it comes to the determined signal-caller, who will now be under the guidance of offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. Smith will also get to learn a little something from well-traveled veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, obtained via trade from the Houston Texans this offseason.
