1. The Anchor Must Thrive

Whether its Eddie Goldman, veteran Jeremiah Ratliff or free-agent signee Jarvis Jenkins, there needs to be a sense of urgency in the middle of the defensive line in 2015.

The anchor of the line in this scheme will help dictate the flow of the play more than any other players on most occasions, so it’s imperative that coach John Fox and Fangio end up with the best guy down the stretch.

When it’s all said and done, Goldman could be the leading nose tackle heading into the final games of the season.

The Bears’ second round pick out of eastern powerhouse Florida State clocks in at a massive 6’4″ and 336 pounds. Goldman is the perfect anchor for the new 3-4 defensive set, and has the ability to break through the middle of the offensive line on a regular basis.

Although it’s possible that he won’t begin the season with the starting nod, he’ll be given plenty of time to learn under Ratliff, and will hopefully take over the starting role come the final half or so of the season.
