2014 was the Bears’ first losing season since 2009, but it was the fourth straight season that they missed the playoffs. The Bears made a big change after the 2012 season to part ways with long time head coach Lovie Smith in favor of bringing in Marc Trestman from the Canadian Football League.
In his first season, the Bears were 8-8 under Trestman, but 2014 was a disaster on both sides of the ball, and the Bears finished with a 5-11 record. The awful 2014 season led to change once again on the sidelines for the Bears, as John Fox will be the new head coach in Chicago.
Fox has had a lot of success in recent years with the Denver Broncos, but he will not have Peyton Manning as his quarterback anymore. The Bears’ roster has holes on both sides of the ball, but their defense especially is far from its glory days in 1980s.
It is looking like another down year for the Bears, as they may improve slightly with the new coaching staff, but it won’t be enough.
Here are five reasons why the Bears will miss the playoffs in 2015.
