FS Keith Tandy
After looking decent enough in 452 snaps as a second-year pro with three interceptions to his name, Keith Tandy received more positive marks in coverage from Pro Football Focus in 2014 despite playing just 67 total snaps. The former sixth-round pick out of West Virginia is heading into the final year of his rookie deal and has flashed potential whenever he’s been given the chance, but it’s hard to see the 26-year-old getting a big opportunity at free safety.
Of course, all it takes is a strong camp from Tandy and an injury to Conte for the Bucs to trust Tandy with the brunt of the FS workload over Wright, but the former high school QB’s status with the coaching staff is unknown at this point. I’d like to see more of the former cornerback, but it looks like his place with the Bucs is clearly on special teams. Some see him as a bubble guy, but I think his special teams work is too strong and his coverage skills are too intriguing for him to be cut in the final year of his deal.
