With no great plan for the right side of their offensive line, the Rams invested a heavy amount of draft capitol in offensive linemen. The Rams drafted Jamon Brown, Andrew Donnal, Rob Havenstein and Cody Winchmann, and then spent a Supplemental Draft pick on Isaiah Battle.
The Rams have third-year player Brandon Washington and free agent addition Garrett Reynolds in place to start at right tackle and right guard, respectively. By the end of Training Camp, however, they will have two rookies starting on the right side of the offensive line — Brown at guard and Havenstein at tackle.
Both Havenstein and Brown have ideal size to be NFL starters. Both over 6’4” and both over 320 pounds and both with tremendous strength. Both these players are fit to dominate in the run game, making them an ideal fit in front of first-round pick Todd Gurley.
Praise has been placed upon the Rams for selecting Havenstein, but it appears that head coach Jeff Fisher is most excited about Brown:
The potential still has to be realized for both players, and both will make their first step towards that when they open Training Camp as starters.
