Alright, Packers fans! July is coming to a close which means training camp is set to kick off before you know it. Before it gets going, however, there are a few things fans need to keep an eye on. The Packers starting units on offense and defense are largely returning from last season but as everyone knows, the competition never ends.

The Green Bay Packers have a vast infusion of rookies this season along with returning second year players that haven’t found their way on the football field yet. Training camp and preseason action is a great place for young players to make an impression on coaches and have a chance to crack the vaunted 53-man roster.
In comparison to other teams in the league, the Packers are in somewhat of a unique situation. The team’s roster is free from any major holes, meaning they have the ability to add playmakers to any position without any burdening expectations for Pro Bowl-type impacts.
Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean the team will lose its hunger for competition when the season gets rolling. In fact, we’ve identified several (five to be exact) key roster battles to be mindful of in the coming weeks. Let’s examine the team’s returning players, some new faces, and what last year’s roster looked like for comparison’s sake. Here we go!
