10. Don’t rely on one player

Putting all your eggs in one basket or in this case one player will hurt you more than expected. It doesn’t matter if that player is someone as dynamic and high scoring in fantasy football leagues as Peyton Manning. If this one player has a bad game or gets hurt and misses game time, then your strategy goes out the window. In auction leagues don’t spend too much of your budget on one player. You don’t want to go without money when there’s players you still need to draft.

In head to head leagues, relying on one key player may pay off for a week or two. However, one tough opponent will keep the supposed star from earning you double digit points and prevent you from winning.  It’s better to have to key players at a position than one star and one dud. Nine times out of ten the two key or role players will find you success than the star and the dud; no matter how many points the star player scores, the dud will pull the team down.

Now don’t misunderstand me. Star NFL players on your roster are great, but you can’t just rely on only one of them. If you don’t have many top players on your team, don’t worry and find high-caliber players that will find the ball often during the season. Every year there are breakout stars that go from sleepers to one of the best players to have on a roster.
