3. Fill roster with depth

Teams with depth succeed in sports. It’s easier to cover for injuries, days off, and players being down right tired. The same is true in fantasy football. For the most part, the teams with the most depth find success. Sure, teams with one star player could blow the league away, but in most cases this isn’t true. As stated in the first tip of this article, it isn’t wise to rely on one person as that’s a risk not worth taking.

My pre-ranking and taking part in mock drafts finding depth is made easier. Down the stretch depth is also key for another reason, bye weeks. Bye weeks are inevitable and cause great stress and concern for fantasy players. By having depth that compliment top players on your squad, injuries, bye week, and other events that come up, those events will affect a fantasy squad less and the level of play and total amount of points won’t be hurt as much.

As a result, in your planning think depth and not just star players. Star players are great, but without some key, higher than average players on your squad you’ll be left with a few players trying to carry the team rather than a team filled with depth. It’s better to have a team with depth than a team with a few stars that have to make up for the rest of the duds on your roster due to injuries or bye weeks.
