The Texans can settle on one quarterback this season. Not that they didn’t try this past season, but the injury bug bit the team hard at the position in 2014.

Head coach Bill O’Brien went through Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallett, rookie Tom Savage and eventually Case Keenum, with all but Savage starting at least one game. Fast forward to this offseason and Fitzpatrick was dealt to the Jets, Keenum was traded to the Rams and Mallett was re-signed.

It may surprise some to know that the four quarterbacks combined for 21 touchdown passes, were picked off only 13 times and lost just three fumbles. Still, it will be Brian Hoyer who challenges Mallett for the starting job this summer and both are more than familiar with O’Brien.

Regardless of who’s throwing the ball, the Texans have bolstered their wide-receiving corps despite the release of Andre Johnson. The club added Jaelen Strong (Arizona State) in the draft as well as former AFC South rivals Cecil Shorts (Jaguars) and Nate Washington (Titans) in free agency to team with emerging DeAndre Hopkins.
