Heath Miller was the picture of consistency last season. No he didn’t light up the stat sheet, and yes he had a few poor games, but he was also one of only two players (the other was Rob Gronkowski) to score 4 or more fantasy points during the final seven weeks of the season. He’s also had at least 500 receiving yards every season since 2007, so his consistency has been proven season-to-season.

He’s finished inside the top-10 in terms of fantasy points among tight ends three times in his career, and he’s finished inside the top-15 three other times. At age 32, he may not be a down-field threat anymore, but he’s still going to see a lot of targets.

There are a lot of mouths to feed in Pittsburgh, and Heath Miller isn’t going to be the focal point of his team’s gameplan, but he’s definitely got a reliable role as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger‘s safety valve. He should see around 90 targets for the third straight season, and that is enough to put him near the top-10 in terms of fantasy value.

Sadly there will definitely be some games when Miller doesn’t get a lot of love, but with a quarterback as reliable as Big Ben, the tight end should be a consistent fantasy play. He’s currently the 16th tight end coming off of draft boards, and while he isn’t likely to put up league-leading numbers he is likely to finish in the top-10 and has a lot less risk than some of the other players being taken higher than him.
