The St. Louis wide receiving corps finally comes into its own. To date, despite a slew of high draft choices in recent seasons, no one in this group has stepped to the forefront.

Two years ago, the Rams moved up in the draft and made speedster Tavon Austin the eighth overall pick in the draft but he has yet to break out as a receiver, although he has shown flashes as a return artist.

Brian Quick was a second-round selection in 2012 while Stedman Bailey, Austin’s teammate at West Virginia, was a third-round pick in ’13. Chris Givens was drafted the same year as quick (fourth round) while 2014 free-agent pickup Kenny Britt is a former first-round pick of the Tennessee Titans.

That’s quite a list of notable names. However, it’s worth mentioning that none of those five players totaled at least 50 receptions in 2014 (Britt led this quintet with 48 catches) while these five wideouts totaled a combined nine touchdown receptions this past season. Jared Cook led St. Louis with 52 catches and fellow tight end Lance Hendricks (5) combined for nine of the team’s 20 scoring receptions one year ago.

Still, could quarterback Nick Foles help this wide receiving corps reach its potential? That’s a question that needs to be answered quickly.
