Eagles Don’t Need A Third QB Right Now

Even though Bradford has been one of the most injury-prone players in the league, the Eagles can afford to go into the 2015 season without a third quarterback. Mark Sanchez is one of the NFL’s best backups, and he showed last season that he can prevent the Eagles QB-friendly offense from stagnating.

Although an injury to Bradford or Sanchez would cause the Eagles to be in a bit of a scramble at the quarterback position, the fact of the matter is that the roster spot Tebow would have taken up is better off going to a more talented player at another position on the roster.

Many teams avoid keeping more than two quarterbacks on their roster, and Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski notes that 15 teams went into the 2014 season with just two passers on their roster. The Eagles can now hold a spot for a better player at a position where depth is more important, such as a cornerback, running back, or an offensive lineman.
